Flutterbys

Nigel Foggo messaged me a few days back to say he'd found some Small Pearl-bordered Fritillaries at a site north of Widdrington just a few miles up the road. With a few hours free between moving the kids to their 2nd home and work along with some warmth in the air I thought it would be a good filler for a couple of hours.
I wasn't alone with local recorder Roger Norman and Brian Bullough both having similar thoughts.  I quickly found 2-3 staying low, constantly on the move along the footpath through the woodland/clearfell area as NF had described. Rarely settling they weren't easy to photograph but after a little perseverance one or two were noted landing on small blue flower spikes (Bugle?).
